To: SCOTY In-Home Test Participants

We are pleased that you have agreed to participate in the in-home field study for SCOTY, a revolutionary new home convergence product that we believe will be a useful and enjoyable addition to your household.

The attached Guidelines document outlines the testing protocol, and provides you with a brief overview of the key SCOTY functions about which we would like your feedback. You should review this document first, followed by the Hardware Assembly Sheet.

We hope that, once you have successfully set up and connected SCOTY to your home network, you will keep it on throughout the 6 week test period. This will allow you the maximal opportunity to interact with SCOTY, explore the features and provide us with the best feedback you can about your experience.

Thank you for your time.

RoboGuide - Your guide to hacking all things WowWee

I think that this is the first entry in WowWee tech that was developed before the Dragonfly. At this point, it is only in testing. Which means that it will be released kinda soon. (5-8) months in WowWee's case. Or it could be sooner. We would need someone who works at WowWee tech to get that kin of detail.

It wasn't at CES, I suspect that means its unlikely to be released this year.

I dunno. The site was published last year occording to it. Since it will be a partenship with phillips, we may see it early 2008.

However, if you go to the help screen, you can download the user manula as well as see a 5 minute video of scotty at work. The instalation video is also there as well.(60 MB)

I wouldn't go as far as saying that since this year has only begun.  There's no telling weather or not it would be ready for a 2007 release.  I am guessing Wowwee will have a few suprises in store for us this fall as well.  So if it does get refined and finished by then, I am sure we will all hear about it by christmas time.

Since robots will one day populate every aspect of your life, its a good idea to make friends with all of them. Otherwise your shower bot might decide to play around with the water temperature while you are showering...

January 19, 2007 8:05 AM

I would. Using last year as an example, The bots WowWee showed off at CES were the bots that were released (with the exception of P.E.A. Bot, which was shelved). Ergo, if it wasn't at CES it isnt going to be out this year. Granted a sample of one is not very definative, but its better than nothing.

hi

What is scoty?   sorry if I am causing trouble        be great if you could reply guys thanx

January 2, 2008 4:14 PM

I have no clue what SCOTY is/was.

At least I didn't until I spent 5 minutes doing a quick community search (try that search field on top of the screen). It shows a couple of threads that show it as a "non-robot" product that's been coming soon for a couple of years.

The referenced 2006 PCMag article describes what apparently remained vaporware.

The thread you've dredged up from the archives lived and died in the course of 2 days in January 2007. That's nearly a year ago.

I do know what ScottE is. That's me!
