From the "What is the V3?" Theories Article...

Who thinks the V3 is really the RS-Media?

If you support this theory, tell us WHY here...

V3 is actually the RS Media. I searched for the Consumer Electronics fair (google) to see the latest and greatest from Wow Wee, but they are not featured. I was under the impression that this was an ideal platform for them to lauch their new products. I think that we will not see another bot until later 2007 even 2008 since RS did not hit all the shelves around the world.

CES 2007 is  on January 8-12, and WowWee will be there.

Last year they displayed the RS Media, P.E.A Bot and RoboReptile.

Thanks Nocturnal, I tried searching but somehow I did not come right. Anyway, how do we know what they are going to display? After the show (or while the show is on) how do we know what is being displayed by WowWee?

We don't know what is going to be displayed. There is generally media coverage during and after the event, videos etc. A few searches should return some results during and after the event.

Will there be real-time updates on WowWee from the show on RoboCommunity?

I don't know. Given that your user number 13, and your account was created on the same date as all the test accounts (presumably the same day this site was created), prior even to Khalid's account (the "Editor" whose account number is 102 btw). I would have thought you would be in a better position to answer that question.

Nocturnal...

It seems you're implying (with a bit of an accusatory tone, I might add Cry) that I have some sort of official affiliation to WowWee. Let me address that...

I work for Capable Networks, the company who was contracted by WowWee to build their official online community presence. So, yes, there is an official link.

However, I do not work for WowWee, do not talk to them on a regular basis, etc. So I am not necessarily going to know much more insider information than you or anyone else in the community. Khalid (the editor of RoboCommunity, and in the best position to get the inside scoop) and I talk a lot, and I am a resource to him, but he will have the official word on things before you or I. And many times I will find it out when I read the same post you're reading.

With regard to Khalid's / RoboCommunity's plans for CES, I thought the rest of the community would like to know. (And to be honest, I'm not 100% sure what his plans are either.) I was really more asking him than you.

I appolgize if you felt I was accusing (Its not like you were really hidding it, was it) you of anything, I was just exercising my curiosity. I was relatively certain you were an employee of Capable Networks (or possibly related to an employee), I was not suggesting you had an affiliation to WowWee (other than the obvious one of working for a company being paid by them). I was just curious about your exact position in the scheme of things, and this seemed like an idea opportunity to find out.

Now, now kids. ;-)

Let me give you the scoop from the horse's mouth. Being the Robocomunity editor, I do have contact with WowWee folks. Jeff actually doesn't, although being an employee of Capable, he got a test account on RC pretty early on (lucky him!). So yeah, he's really just asking, and of course, trying to get the rest of the community involved.

As for my plans for CES, I'll be there waiting to see what WowWee unveils. They did give us an idea of the potential products they were thinking about releasing, but even they weren't 100% sure about some of the products. At any rate, we're not allowed to say right now, since we could end up talking about some product(s) that gets delayed for months if not longer. Once we find out, we'll definitely be posting news of it to RC.

Hope this help!

Thanks to both of you for the clarification. Absolutely no hard feelings, Nocturnal. We all know how hard it is for inflection and tone to come across well in these kinds of conversations. I just didn't want you or anyone else in the community to think I was being disinginuous or that CN was hiding something. As you stated, that is by no means our intention. Rock on!

Does that mean your off to Vegas Khalid?

*Laughs* It wouldn't be the first time WowWee has had a little trouble with a product line. The P.E.A Bot is a perfect example.

I say media is the V3 because 1st you've got the regular robosapien then you've got the V2 then lastly you got ROBOSAPIEN rs media,And to my conclusion they all get more advanced as you go down the line

SUMMERY
1.robosapien,robosapien V2,robosapien rs media all have robosapien in the name and rs in rs media stands for RoboSapien
2. as you go from robosapien to RSV2 to rs media they get more advanced

over and out

Everybody's entitled to their opinion.

Many folks who have been tracking discussions of a potential V3, would consider your opinion to be incorrect. Those people, myself included, would say that the RSMedia is not the rumored V3.

The RSMedia was a gutting of the RSV2 brain, and a replacement of it with a more programmable controller. It was not a significant upgrade of the mechanical portion of the robot. Some people actually prefer the hands of the RSV2 over the RSMedia, and consider the RSV2 mechanicals to be a step backwards.

Since the rumored V3 was supposed to be larger, and more physically capable, the RSMedia does not fit the criteria.

To borrow a page from MicroSoft's product roadmap, the RSMedia is to the RSV2 as XP MediaCenter is to XP. The MicroSoft Vista project would be more akin to the rumored RSV3.

On robosapien.tk Mark Tiden said that "There will be four new additions to the RS family.".

So far, wev`e got v2, rs media, and femi, but one`s missing- v3, perhaps?

April 22, 2008 9:59 AM

I too think that RS media should be considered the V3. I was thinking on this same subject before I even came across this thread. Before I even came across RoboCommunity even.

As has been previously stated, at the time the RSMedia was being developed and after it was announced, there was still discussions of a yet to be defined V3.

We may never see V3, but the RSMedia isn't what has been discussed for the past two years as being V3.
