Browsing through that thread was like a backstage pass into half-a-dozen sci-fi movies. You don't realize just how sophisticated these things are until you see some of those pictures.

Heh. In 20 years, the Intels and Texas Instruments of the world are going to reduce all of that to a 1 chip, some wires, some servos, a ton of wireless parts that are sync'ed to the master CPU brain via some kind of bonding process and grow it in all in a huge vat filled with some kind of organic goo. It'll be able to fall apart and come together again like that robotic chair.
