Is there a FAQ somewhere on the differences between Robosapien 1.0 vs Robosapien v2 ? I pulled down the manual from http://www.robosapienonline.com/ , but it didn't give me any indication of which model it was for.

Thanks!

We're working on an article that describes the differences between the original model and RS V2. We'll post a link to it here when it's done.

In the meantime, here's a quick answer to your question:

When you see "Robosapien" by itself, that means the original model. Hence going to www.robosapienonline.com will take you to the original model. Here's a picture of the first version:

When you see "Robosapien V2" or "RS V2", that's the second version. Hence, going to www.robosapienv2online.com is where you want to go! Here's a pic of RS V2:

why can't RS v1 play with RS v2

Hey there crazyeyes (interesting screen name!),

Once upon a time, I wasn't the editor of this site, and didn't know a thing about these bots, but now my house is full of them and I know about 12 more things about them Wink

Anyway, the answer to your question is pretty simple - they didn't build that functionality into the RSV2. The RSV2 can 'interact' with  the Robopet, the Roboreptile and other RSV2s. 'Interact' really means that it sends them commands, like you would from the remote control of those robots.

Don't you thing it's silly?

That depends, How much do you know about IR? the signals that RoboPet, RoboRaptor (its RoboRaptor the V2 interacts with Khalid, the RoboReptile didn't exist when it was made) and V2 all use a 12 bit signal. There is a 4 bit prefix which identifies which robot the signal is for, the 8 bit sufix is the command. The robosapien uses an 8 bit IR signal. The two are not directly compatible.

In order to interact with the RoboSapien they would need to write two seperate functions for interactations (since the interactions are just the V2 sending a IR signal, saying something and pausing), and from what has been said they didn't have much in the way of free space in his brain for additional functions. This is just my opinion of course.

The silly thing is why the RS Media can't do it.

Mental typo! Sorry about that. Too many robo-x bots to keep them all straight! Just wait till WowWee releases even more products with 'robo' in their names.

I also tend to think of the Roboreptile as the next generation Roboraptor, so they're connected in my head for that reason.
