Explore the New WowWee Rovio!

Get in touch with your inner private investigator with the WowWee Rovio - sure to take home and office surveillance to a whole new level!

The Rovio, at its core, is a Wi-Fi enabled robotic webcam that can move easily in any direction, and can also be controlled remotely. In fact, it's a revolution in home and office exploration.

It's the first robot to feature the NorthStar (R) smart navigation and positioning system - which represents a major breakthrough in robotics. Essentially, it works like a mini-GPS system. The NorthStar (R) system enables the Rovio to become fully aware of its surroundings, such as knowing its location and the location of other objects. The Rovio can also move from place to place with razor-sharp accuracy - and all by itself. It can even dock itself into its own charger when you're not around.

Rovio can help you not only to navigate, but also to see, the environment in which it lives. You can stream video and audio from its built-in camera so you can keep an eye on your home, cubicle, or business - and even have movement-enabled online conferences.

The camera, which is neck-mounted, can be controlled by any web accessible device such as your cell phone, video game console, or PC. To make it easier for you to use Rovio, you can program "waypoints;" in one click, Rovio will go to the point you have chosen without having to guide him every step of the way.

Rovio isn't scared of the dark, either - bright built-in LED's help you to navigate through dark areas.

With its intelligent navigation capabilities, video and audio streaming, and accessibility from anywhere, the Rovio is sure to please the secret private investigator in all of us!

Hi Peter,

Any word on if the Rovio features an embedded linux OS? I'm also curious as to the purpose and function of the USB connector, since it has WIFI.
